Thank you for your patience in awaiting a further update on both the Camden Town Low Emission Neighbourhood and the Kentish Town Healthy Streets Project.
We hope that you are all keeping well in light of the current circumstances.
Officers across the Council, including those working on these projects, have been supporting a response to COVID-19. Some of the tasks officers involved in this project have been working on have ranged from arranging for our try a bike fleet to be made available to key workers, working with private parking providers to ensure NHS staff have access to parking near their sites, removing guard railing on Kentish Town Road to increase space for social distancing and working with TfL to take measure to provide more space for pedestrians on Camden High Street between Mornington Crescent and Camden Town Tube station.
We are now writing to update you on both the Camden Town Low Emission Neighbourhood and the Kentish Town Healthy Streets Project to ensure that everyone has access to the same information.
Ongoing engagement
As outlined in the previous update face to face engagement has been postponed. During the initial engagement phase of both projects we were aiming to carry out three public drop-ins and three on street pop-ups across in each project area (total of 6 drop in and six pop ups). Before we had to postpone face to face engagement due to COVID19 we had conducted ten of the twelve engagement events across both projects.

Camden High Street proposals
The Camden High Street Perception Survey is now closed. We received a total of 320 responses. This survey was designed to help us understand how people currently use Camden High Street and gather information about people's views on the High Street. This will help to inform the delivery of the proposed series of weekend pedestrianisation trials of Camden High Street.
As outlined in the FAQ it was our intention to launch a series of trial pedestrianisation over a series of weekends on Camden High Street, between Camden Town underground station and Hawley Crescent. We will be continuing to work on this proposal but it is not anticipated that weekend trials will be launched as planned in the summer. We will keep you informed of updates via the commonplace news system and via email.
Next steps
We are starting to analyse the data collected from initial engagement and the initial plan was to present this data at a series of Co-design workshops, in venues similar to those used for the drop in sessions for both the Camden Town Low Emission Neighbourhood and the Kentish Town Healthy Streets Project. We are now working to establish a process by which the information gathered during the initial engagement can be communicated to all stakeholders. Sharing this information will enable us communicate the valuable insights we have received from the wider community and stakeholders on their local areas.
COVID19
Councillors across Camden have been receiving requests from members of the public for measures that would enable social distancing on their streets. Reports from the Met Police show that while the total numbers of vehicles using our roads are, currently, down there has been an eight fold increase in number of speeding offences. Officers have been working to establish a set of measures, both on high streets and on residential streets, that would enable members of the public to socially distance on their streets.
